This policy explains what data the mobile word game Word Honeycomb ("the game") uses, why, and what choices you have. It applies to Word Honeycomb 2.0 and later, on iOS and Android.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Ardevtek Yazılım. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@ardevtek.com.
2. The short version
- The game has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or age.
- The words are built into the game. Your progress is stored on your device. Your device's own backup (iCloud or iTunes backup on iOS, backup to your Google account on Android) can include it. There is no game server, and we never receive your progress.
- The game shows ads: rewarded ads that you choose to watch (to earn honey or extra swaps), and occasional full-screen ads between games. Full-screen ads never appear in the middle of a game, and there are no banner ads.
- Four Google services receive data from the game: Google AdMob (ads), Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports), Firebase Remote Config (game settings) and Google Analytics for Firebase (gameplay statistics). In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics runs only with your consent. On iOS, if you are signed in to Game Center, your scores also go to Apple's leaderboards.
- The game has no in-app purchases and sends no notifications.
- We do not sell your personal data. Where a US state privacy law treats personalised advertising as "selling" or "sharing" personal data, you can opt out (see section 6).
3. Data that stays on your device
The following is stored on your device and is never sent to us. Uninstalling the game deletes it from your device (see section 4 for device backups).
- Game progress, kept separately for each language: the Adventure levels you have unlocked, the stars you earned, your best Tempo score, your honey, and which tutorial and tip cards you have seen.
- Daily comb: your stars and swaps for each day you play, your streak and your longest streak.
- Settings: language, sound, music, vibration and reduce motion.
- Counters used by the ad rules: how many games you have finished, and when the last full-screen ad was shown, so that ad frequency can be applied.
- Your ad consent choice: Google's consent tool stores it on your device and sends it to Google with ad requests, so that ads follow your choice (see section 6).
4. Data shared with others
Google AdMob
- What: advertising identifier (on iOS the IDFA only if you allow tracking; on Android the advertising ID), IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information, ad interactions, and performance and diagnostic data from the ads software.
- Why: to show and measure the ads, to limit how often you see them, and to prevent fraud.
- Legal basis: your consent where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; iOS tracking permission). Personalised ads are shown only with that consent. In US states with consumer privacy laws, you can opt out of personalised ads at any time (see section 6).
- Ad content: the game asks Google only for ads rated at most PG (parental guidance).
Firebase Crashlytics
- What: crash reports: stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version, and a Firebase installation identifier. Crash reports do not contain your game data.
- Why: to find and fix crashes.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the game working.
Firebase Remote Config
- What: a Firebase installation identifier, the app version and your device language, when the game checks for new settings (at most every 12 hours).
- Why: to adjust game settings, such as how often full-screen ads may appear, without an app update.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running and tuning the game.
Google Analytics for Firebase
- What: gameplay events (for example, an Adventure level started, won or lost with its stars and swaps, a Daily comb or Tempo run played with its score, a joker used, the language changed, an ad watched), a Firebase installation identifier, the advertising identifier where it is available (on iOS only if you allow tracking), basic device and app information, and the approximate location derived from your IP address. It does not include your name, email address or the words you play.
- Why: to understand where players get stuck and improve the game's difficulty and balance.
- Legal basis: in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, your consent only: on iOS, analytics stays off unless you allow storing information on your device in the consent form; on Android, analytics stays off there. Elsewhere, analytics is switched on after the game's start-up privacy step, based on our legitimate interest in improving the game.
Google processes this data under its own terms and may process it outside your country, including in the United States. You can read how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Apple Game Center (iOS)
- What: if you are signed in to Game Center, your best Tempo score, the stars you have earned in Adventure and your longest Daily comb streak go to the game's leaderboards, together with your Game Center player profile.
- Why: to show the leaderboards.
- Legal basis: you choose to use Game Center. Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). We do not receive your Game Center data.
On Android the game has no leaderboards; your scores stay on your device.
Device backups
- What: if backup is turned on for your device, iOS (iCloud or iTunes backup) or Android (backup to your Google account) may include the game's save data in your device backup.
- Why: so that your progress comes back when you restore your device or reinstall the game.
- Legal basis: your device's backup setting. Apple and Google store backups under their own privacy policies (apple.com/legal/privacy, policies.google.com/privacy). We cannot access your backups.
5. How long data is kept
- Data on your device: until you reset your progress or uninstall the game.
- Device backups: according to Apple's or Google's backup policies, while backup is turned on.
- Crashlytics crash reports: 90 days.
- Analytics: 2 months.
- AdMob and Remote Config data: according to Google's retention policies (see the links above).
- Game Center data: according to Apple's policies, while you use Game Center.
6. Your choices
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): the game asks for your consent before ads are loaded. You can change your choice at any time in the game under Settings → Privacy options.
- US state privacy laws: if you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (for example California), you can opt out of the use of your data for personalised ads, which some of these laws call a "sale" or "sharing" of personal data, in the game under Settings → Privacy options.
- iOS tracking: the game asks for tracking permission when you first open it, before any ads are loaded. You can allow or deny it, and change it later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you deny it, the game does not use your advertising identifier. The game works the same either way.
- Android advertising ID: you can reset or delete it in your device settings under Google → Ads (the exact path depends on the device).
- Rewarded ads are optional: you can play the whole game without watching them.
- Game Center: you can sign out in iOS Settings → Game Center. The game works the same without it.
- Reset progress: Settings → Reset progress deletes your levels, stars and honey from your device.
- Delete your data: uninstalling the game removes everything it stored on your device. Backups are deleted in your device's or account's backup settings. To ask about data held by Google, contact us (see below).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, Turkey's Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, to opt out of personalised advertising, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Because the game has no accounts, we usually cannot link data to you personally; if you contact us we will help you exercise these rights, including with Google, and reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Turkey: the Personal Data Protection Authority, KVKK).
8. Children
The game is made for a general audience and is not directed at children. It does not ask for age and does not ask anyone for personal information. Ads are limited to content rated at most PG (parental guidance). If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about your child's data, contact us and we will help, including with requests to Google.
9. Changes to this policy
If what the game collects changes, we update this page at the same address and change the effective date above.
